I
haven’t been able to locate many facts about James Hall, but I can share his marriage
bond. I recently viewed it on microfilm at my library thanks to the Library of
Virginia’s interlibrary loan program. James Hall married Mildred Humphrey on October
14, 1785, in Albemarle County, Virginia.

As you can see, Mildred’s father’s David Humphrey served as a bondsman and provided a signed consent showing he had no objections to his daughter’s marriage to James Hall.
